     Ella Sandeman was born circa 1864. She was the daughter of Colonel John Glas Sandeman and Eliza Victoire Cormick.

     Florence Maud Lynch-Staunton Sandeman was born in 1864. (an unknown value).¹ She was the daughter of Colonel John Glas Sandeman and Eliza Victoire Cormick.
     The marriage of Florence Maud Lynch-Staunton Sandeman and Col. Frederick Howard Fairtlough was registered between April 1886 and May 1886 in the Paddington registration district.² She was listed as the daughter-in-law of Emily Marshall in the 1891 census at Catteshall Manor, Godalming.³ Florence Maud Lynch-Staunton Sandeman lived circa 1920 at Garden House, Hayling Island, Havant; I believe Catteshall Manor was sold sometime in the 1920s, when my widowed grandmother, Maud, decided she’d prefer to live in Hayling Island, Hampshire, close to her unmarried sister Ella Sandeman. She bought Garden House, which is where I was born.⁴

     Colonel John Glas Sandeman married Eliza Victoire Cormick on 26 August 1862. Colonel John Glas Sandeman lived in 1902 at Whinhurst, Hayling Island, Havant. The Sandeman connection is, of course, thorough my grandmother. Her father was part of the port and sherry family, but took little part in the business. He was a regular soldier, served in the Heavy Cavalry Brigade in the Crimean War and was later a man-about-town and some kind of associate of King Edward VII. I have plenty of information on this family.¹
