     He was listed as a member of the household of Emily Marshall in the 1881 census at Catteshall Manor, Godalming.2 Col. Frederick Howard Fairtlough was Major, 3rd Battalion West Surrey Regiment in 1886.
     The marriage of Col. Frederick Howard Fairtlough and Florence Maud Lynch-Staunton Sandeman was registered between April 1886 and May 1886 in the Paddington registration district.3
     He was listed as the son of Emily Marshall in the 1891 census at Catteshall Manor, Godalming.4
     Frederick died on 26 September 1915; Killed in Action. Colonel, The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regt.).5 He was buried at Loos Memorial Cemetery, St John's Wood; he is commemorated on Loos Memorial to the missing.5
